BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA –The Mike Slive Foundation has named its newest research grant recipients, continuing the Foundation’s mission to eradicate prostate cancer through research funding and education. Since its inception in 2017, the Mike Slive Foundation is proud to have funded 33 innovative prostate cancer research grants.
The Mike Slive Foundation’s mission is to fund cutting-edge prostate cancer research pilot grants which enables a scientist to create proof of concept and hopefully go on to receive larger federal grants.
“My father was the beneficiary of a clinical trial during his prostate cancer treatment,” said Anna Slive Harwood, Executive Director of the Mike Slive Foundation. “The research we fund aims to address all aspects of prostate cancer detection and treatment, ranging from diagnosis to improving quality of life for patients and survivors. We’re so proud to invest funds in these grants that we hope will get us closer to eradicating prostate cancer in our lifetime.”
The Mike Slive Foundation 2023 Research Grant Recipients include:
Novel epigenetic therapies for bone metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer, Dr. Juan Arriaga, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) based Radio-Pathomic nomogram to prognosticate treatment outcomes in prostate cancer patients following radical prostatectomy, Dr. Rakesh Shiradkar, Emory University.
OGDHL as a new target in neuroendocrine prostate cancer, Dr. Andrew Goldstein, University of California Los Angeles.
Elucidating Circulating Tumor and Immunological Phenotypes Following Treatment with SBRT +/- 177Lu-PNT2002 in Men with Oligometastatic Recurrent Prostate Cancer, Dr. Luca Valle, University of California Los Angeles.
Immunotherapy with γδ T cells for Neuroendocrine Prostate Cancer, Dr. Craig Morita, University of Iowa.
And, in partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the O’Neal Invests Partnership Grant Recipient includes:
Elucidating the functional significance of full-length androgen receptor in castration-resistant prostate cancer, Dr. Selvarangan Ponnazhagan, University of Alabama at Birmingham.
