As former Commissioner of the Great Midwest Conference, Conference USA, and the SEC, Mike Slive was a man who understood competition. Leading with quiet dignity, ‘the Commish’ was a chief catalyst in creating the College Football Playoff and creating the SEC’s TV network in partnership with ESPN. During his tenure as SEC Commissioner, the league achieved unprecedented success on the field and in the front office.
Mike Slive understood competition. And inspired by his own fight with prostate cancer, he retired from college athletics in 2015, created the Mike Slive Foundation and served as its first president. Under his direction, the Foundation endeavored to create the team that would become a global leader in the fight to eradicate prostate cancer through public awareness and research funding.
